100 foot Rock

Description
Contrary to its name, the primary feature of this site is *not* in fact, a rock of length or height even approaching 100ft. Don't let that turn you away from this dive however, as there is plenty to see! The subject in question is approximately at a depth of about 90 feet, with the rock itself reaching a height of roughly 20', which is in itself quite impressive in size. Additionally, a little north of this location, a wealth of different species of bottom-fish can be found amongst garbage-turned artificial reefs.

With two different areas to explore, this dive provides for divers of all kinds and interests! Dungeoness crabs can even be found running amok about the rock, enough to be worth researching the possibility of crabbing. Care should be taken however, as this dive is somewhat deep. Those without experience at depth should be sure to go with buddies more knowledgeable and familiar with this dive, or avoid it until they've logged some deeper dives. Accordingly, those more experienced should be careful as well, as nitrogen narcosis could very well be a likely scenario. Aside from these factors however, this is a very enjoyable dive, go check this one out!

Location
It's located near the Meadowdale marina in Lynnwood. Take Exit 179 on I-5 (220th St SW). Go west until you cross Highway 99, and take a right at the next light onto 76th Ave SW. Your goal is 162nd St SW, so follow 76th Ave SW for quite a while until you hit a 4-way stop. Continue straight through into a more residential looking area for about 1.3 miles. Take a left onto 162nd St SW. It curves down to the railroad track. Park there.

Gear up, and walk south along the train tracks for a hundred yards or so, until you get to a cement stair leading down to the water. If you have gone past the railroad tie retaining wall on the left, you've missed the stairs. Enter here, and swim straight out from the stairs. Starting at about 40', there is a ravine. Follow this down to the Rock.

Please note, this is private property and we can not give you permission to dive here. This doesn't mean that you avoid this dive, but please take the fact into consideration.
